Jeanne D'Arc Simard
June 2, 1931 – July 28, 2017
Jeanne D’Arc (McKeown) Simard, 86, of Lincoln NH, passed away on July 28, 2017 at LaFayette Center in Franconia, NH.
Born on June 2, 1931 in Quebec City, P.Q., She was the daughter of Patrick McKeown and Emelia Pickle.
Jeanne grew up in Quebec where she met Francois X. Simard of Arvida, Canada. They married, had 3 children and later moved to the US.
Jeanne was a wonderful seamstress. She sewed costumes for the Lincoln Opera House for Rachel Adams. She worked in the hospitality industry for many years and then owned and operated Jeanne’s Restaurant in Lincoln. She later worked at Jordan Marsh, retired and had the wonderful opportunity to travel with her companion Henry Graton.
Jeanne is remembered by her family and friends for her joy of life and positive attitude. The glass was always half full no matter what challenges she faced. She loved to sing, dance and entertain.
She leaves behind two daughters, Louise Willey of Lincoln, Danielle Danna of Groves, Texas and son, Gaetan Joseph Simard of Vancouver, Canada.
Jeanne also leaves several grandchildren: Craig Willey, Brad Willey, Sandra Edwards, Jennifer VanDeHoef and Marion “Buddy” Danna, 12 great-grandchildren and 7 great- great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her siblings: Thomas McKeown, Jacqueline Storer, Claire Caron, Margarite Roy and Mary LaRue. Jeanne is survived by her brother Norman McKeown of Belmont, NH.
There will be a graveside service on Thursday, August 17th, at the Riverside Cemetery in Lincoln, NH at 2:00 p.m.
