Adaline Foote Savage
April 25, 1924 – July 26, 2013
Adaline Foote Savage, 89, formerly of Rumney and Penacook, NH and a past seven year member of the John H. Whitaker Assisted Living in Concord died Friday, July 26, 2013 at the Merrimack County Nursing Home. Adaline went to be with her Lord and Savior after declining health problems.
Born April 25, 1924 in Durkeetown, NY, she was the daughter of the late Chester H. and Edna (Harsha) Foote.
Adaline graduated from Fort Edward High School in 1941 and was a 1942 graduate of Albany Business College. She received her bachelor degree in School Nurse Teaching from State University of NY (SUNY) Plattsburg and her Master’s Degree from SUNY College for teachers at Albany. She continued her education at Plattsburgh State, NY, Castleton State, VT, Russell Sage, Troy, NY St. Rose, Albany, NY and Plymouth State University in Plymouth, NH.
Adaline was a registered nurse who graduated from Albany City Hospital and did private duty at Glens Falls Hospital for several years. She was a school nurse teacher employed by Saratoga County, South Glens Falls Central and Hudson Falls Central Schools. During the later part of her career, she taught 1st Grade at Margaret M. Murphy Elementary School in Hudson Falls, NY.
On June 16, 1951, Adaline married Arthur P. Savage, Sr., at the First Baptist Church in Durkeetown, NY. Since the 1920’s, she had been associated with Baptist Churches in Durkeetown, NY, Rumney, NH, Frostproof, FL, and Vero Beach, FL. During several of these years, she joined the educational staff by teaching Sunday School classes and serving on several committees.
For five winters (1985-1989), Adaline and her husband were involved in short term missionary work with New Tribe Missions, Sanford, FL, working in Columbia, Venezuela, Papua, New Guinea, Australia, and Liberia. In 1982, they retired to Florida and summered at their home in Rumney, NH.
Adaline was predeceased by her husband Arthur P. Savage, Sr (March 2000) and her sister Margaret Labosier (October 2003).
Family members include a daughter Barbara Jackson of Beaver Dams, NY; a son and daughter-in-law Arthur F. Savage, Jr., and his wife Marsha of Webster, NH; grandsons Thomas, Timothy, and Aaron Jackson and Ryan Savage; a sister Carol Mears and her husband William of Queensbury, NY and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
At Adaline’s request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside memorial service will be held this fall at Union Cemetery in Fort Edward, NY at the convenience of the family.
