David E. Perkins
June 13, 1941 – August 10, 2016
David E. Perkins, 75, affectionately known as “Grumpy” of West Street passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Littleton Regional Hospital.
Born on June 13, 1941 in Franklin, NH, he was the son of Leon and Dorothy May (Austin) Perkins.
He grew up in Danbury, NH and was a 1959 graduate of Bristol Memorial High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy, serving from 1960-1964.
Grumpy was employed at Draper Corporation in Beebe River, Campton Sand and Gravel, and retired from Waterville Valley Resort.
He was a member of the Lincoln American Legion Post # 83 and served as a volunteer for the White Mountain Snowmobile Club. He loved his family, was known for his wit, enjoyed travelling and the companionship of his dogs “Dutchess” and “Ringo”. He also enjoyed meeting up with the “Breakfast Crew” at Linwood Auto.
Besides his parents, he is pre-deceased by a son Dennis, and two brothers.
He leaves his wife Virginia “Ginny” Perkins of Lincoln; a daughter Kelly Cooke and husband Jeff of North Woodstock and two sons Jeff Perkins of Thornton and Dylan Perkins of Lincoln; two grandchildren Cara-Jean Perry and Samantha Perkins both of Thornton; two great-grandchildren Dakota Perry and Sofi Patterson; three brothers Kenneth Drew of Warner, George Perkins of Newbury, VT, and Charles Perkins of Warren; three sisters Dorothy Drake of Thornton, Martha Ann Smith of Newbury, VT, and Edna Piehler of Alexandria; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11am Saturday, August 13th at Riverside Cemetery, Lincoln, NH. Calling hours will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Friday Aug 12th at Fournier-Hale Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, North Woodstock, NH.
