Carol Parent a longtime resident of Lincoln, NH passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Littleton Regional Hospital following a period of declining health. She was 77.
Born on March 31, 1936 in Lincoln, NH, she was the daughter of Edward J. and Nora (McCarthy) Parent.
Carol grew up in Lincoln and was a graduate of the Lincoln High School Class of 1954. She then enrolled in nursing at Sacred Heart Nursing School, graduating in 1957 and continued her education graduating in 1963 from Boston University School of Nursing.
She was employed in various nursing positions at Boston Health Department and Boston City Hospital.
In 1975, she returned to Lincoln to care for her elderly parents. For over 30 years, She was seasonally employed in various positions at Loon Mountain in the winter and during the summers, she most enjoyed working in the Gift Shop at Clark’s Trading Post.
Carol was very involved in the community, serving as a volunteer for Senior Meals on Wheels, The Linwood Historical Society Membership Committee, and the Linwood Ambulance Service Board of Directors.
Carol was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Lincoln where she served on the Parish Council.
She is survived by her brother Bruce Parent and his wife Irene of Asburnham, MA; Nephews Kevin Parent of Mount Pleasant, SC, Scot Parent of Carlsbad, CA, Mark Parent of Jackson, NH, and Brian Parent of Barre, MA; cousins Robert McCarthy of CT and Richard McCarthy of NH; and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Tuesday, December 10 at St. Joseph Church, Church St, Lincoln, NH. Rev. David Kneeland will officiate. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Lincoln, NH in the spring.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm Monday, December 9 at Fournier-Hale Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, No. Woodstock, NH.
