Marilyn Joy Murphy
August 16, 1936 – July 23, 2016
Marilyn, Lipson, Kovnat-Murphy (Blumenthal) MD of Lincoln NH formerly of Portland Maine and Cambridge Massachestts.
Survived by her husband Frank Murphy of Lincoln NH, son Lane Kovnat of South Boston MA, Brothers Martin Blumenthal and his wife Susan from NJ, Richard Blumenthal and his companion Nancy Merkovitz of Portland Maine, Ronald Blumenthal and his wife Gaye of Scarbrough Maine, stepdaughters Mary Murphy and her companion Jim Holley of Falmouth Ma, Carolyn Murphy of Chandler AZ, Stepsons James Murphy and his Wife Jessica from Norton MA, Thomas Murphy and his wife Simone from N. Attleboro MA and Frank Murphy,Jr and his wife Joslyn from Bellingham MA.
Marilyn graduated from Deering High School in Portland Maine and Lasell College in Newton MA.
One month after her son Lane was born her first husband Burton Lipson died.
Marilyn return to college and graduated from Boston University School of Medicine. She practiced Internal Medicine and had her office at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, retiring in 2007.
She and her husband moved to Lincoln NH and spent most of winter skiing. She enjoyed gardening, where she has planted over 3 hundred Irises many of which she hybridize and grew them from seeds.
She also enjoyed Kayaking, Ceramics, Painting, Traveling and Beaded Jewelry.
Service and internment are private. In lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy in Marilyn’s name may be donated to the Lincoln Public Library at PO Box 98, Lincoln NH 03251.
