Messias Moniz Medeiros

Messias Moniz Medeiros of Hanson Farm Road passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Country Village in Lancaster, NH. He was 79.

Born on November 12, 1933 in the Village of Lomba de Maia, St. Miguel Island in the Azores, he was the son of Clementino and Evelina Medeiros.

Messias immigrated to the United States in 1961 and settled in Cambridge, Mass. He became employed in the construction industry with Warren Brothers until they were acquired by Trimount Construction, retiring in 1990. A longtime resident of Somerville, he was a well respected member of the community and was a member of the Cambridge Sports Club, St. Cristo Center, and was a devoted member of St. Antonio’s Portuguese Church in Cambridge, Mass. In 1996, he moved to Lincoln, NH.

His wife of 47 years, Simeira died in 2002.

He leaves a son Messias Manuel Medeiros of St. Michael, Azores

Daughters: Maria J. Smith and her companion Donald Thibodeau of Lincoln, NH Maria I. Araujo and her husband Norman of Lincoln, NH, and Diane M. Rocha and her husband Jorge of Revere, Mass; brothers: Joe Clementino and Humberto Clementino both of Canada, Thomas Medeiros of Tewksbury, Mass, and Incense Clementino of St. Michael, Azores; sisters: Maria Sousa of Stoughton, Mass, Catherina (Bastos) Medeiros of Azores, and Sofia Mota of Newark, NJ

6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren

Several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am Friday, March 8 at St. Joseph Church, Church St, Lincoln, NH. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Lincoln in the spring.

Calling hours will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday, March 7 at Fournier-Hale Funeral Home, 144 Main St, North Woodstock, NH.
