George C. McMenimen
July 3, 1932 – May 13, 2016
Plymouth, NH-George C. McMenimen Jr, 83, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2016. George grew up and attended the Sacred Heart schools and a graduate of Cambridge Latin High in East Cambridge MA. He is a graduate and proud alumni of Boston College. He also served in the Army.
George worked in the aerospace industry before moving to Plymouth NH in the 1970's where he owned and operated with his wife Florence, and five children, Little John’s restaurant at 55 Main Street for years.
Later he worked at Plymouth State University for more than 30 years leaving his full time position at the age of 82.
George enjoyed history/military history, reading, bridge, golf, hockey and ballroom dancing with his wife. He loved meeting people from all walks of life and chatting it up with them.
He relished spending time with his family and friends, former employees, former customers, and co-workers.
He was predeceased by his wife Florence (Cormier) of 50 years in 2005 and his sister Mary McMenimen Harrington.
George leaves behind his five beloved children: Jean M. and her husband Robert Laverdiere, David M. McMenimen, George C. McMenimen III, Daniel P. McMenimen, and Timothy P. McMenimen and his wife Nancy Essick McMenimen, his brother: Joseph P. McMenimen and his wife Linda and his sister Nancy Briand and her husband Richard. He also leaves behind his two precious and special grandchildren, Valerie Laverdiere, Peter Laverdiere and his dozens of nieces, nephews and godchildren and one very special Aunt, “La” Loretto Dilworth.
A viewing will be held from 10:30am to 11am prior to A Mass of Christian Burial at 11am Tuesday, May 17 at St. Matthew’s Church, 11 School St, Plymouth, NH followed by burial in Riverside Cemetery Plymouth, NH.
A memorial Mass at his youth sacrament diocese of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in East Cambridge MA on May 24th, 6 pm in the downstairs chapel.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Speare Memorial Hospital, 16 Hospital Road, Plymouth, NH 03264.
