Rumney Rev. Donald E. Macomber, 94, passed away on February 9. He died peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his home in Rumney. Donald was born in Lexington, MA, on September 9, 1919 to Norris and Esther Macomber. He graduated from Gordon College and Gordon Divinity School, Boston, class of ’41 and ’44, then was ordained into pastoral ministry. For over 40 years, he served eight churches in northern New England. He was a quiet, principled man, who had a sincere love and concern for others. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary, his son, Dick, and two sisters, Marjorie and Rose. He is survived by his son, David Macomber and wife, Martha, of Texas; two daughters, Mary Anne Desmarais and husband, Daniel, who lived with and cared for him in his Rumney home, and daughter, Betty Macomber of New York City; and 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.. Donations may be given to a memorial fund for the New England Fellowship of Evangelicals, P.O. Box 599, Rumney, NH 03266. Visiting hours are 6-8 p.m., Friday, at the Fournier-Hale Funeral Home, 144 Main St, N. Woodstock. The funeral will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the Rumney Baptist Church, Stinson Lake Road, Rumney.
