Wilfred A. Ledger
July 7, 1923 – May 23, 2015
Wilfred A. Ledger of Maple Street died Saturday, May 23, 2015 peacefully at his home following a period of declining health. He was 91.
Born on July 7, 1923 in Lincoln, NH, he was the son of Thomas and Alma (Poirier) Ledger.
A lifelong resident of Lincoln, he attended Lincoln schools and then served in the 84th Infantry Division (the Rail Splitters) of the US Army during WWII.
On June 15, 1946, he married Marguerite A. O’Brien.
For many years, he and his wife owned and operated the Rail Splitter Restaurant in Lincoln.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Lincoln.
Family members, two daughters, Susan A. Ledger and Donna De Simone, both of Lincoln; a son, Wilfred A. Ledger Jr., of Castalina Springs, Tenn.; eight grandsons; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Lena (Ledger) Bouchard and and brothers Robert, Gerald and Maurice.
Wilfred was a lifelong member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post 83, Lincoln, NH
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Saturday, May 30th at St. Joseph Church in Lincoln. Rev David Kneeland will officiate. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Lincoln on Saturday June 6th.
Calling hours will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Friday, May 29 at Fournier-Hale Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, No Woodstock, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post 83 Lincoln, NH 03251
