Mayford "May" Alice LaRue
November 23, 1919 – December 21, 2010
Mayford “May” Alice LaRue, a longtime resident of Burt’s Way passed away late Tuesday evening at Maple Lane Nursing Home in Barton, Vermont where she had resided for the past five years. She was 91.
Born on November 23, 1919 in Johnson,Vermont, she was the daughter of Howard and Lena (Story) Courser.
Mayford attended school in Johnson, VT. She married Burt H. LaRue and they settled in Lincoln, NH where they raised their family.
In earlier years, she was employed at Chanard Grocery Store and Fantasy Farm. For many years, she was a candy maker at Hilliards Candy Store in North Woodstock. She and Burt owned and operated Burt’s Trailer Park in North Woodstock.
She enjoyed spending time with family and enjoyed fly fishing.
She is pre-deceased by her husband Burt (1985), a son Paul LaRue (2008), brothers Ralph, Roger, Arthur, Harold, and Earl Courser and sisters Hersey Sheen & Irene Jewell, and infant siblings Leaffe and Byrul.
She leaves a son William LaRue and his wife Donna of Richmond, Maine
Five Grandchildren: Brian, Tyler, and Adam LaRue all of Enfield, CT Paul LaRue and his wife Jenetta of Franklin, NH, and Dore Massey of Monks Corner, SC.
Five Great-Grandchildren: Wyatt, Rebecka, Daniel, Gage, and Riley.
Many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 2pm Sunday, December 26 at the North Woodstock Masonic Hall, 185 Lost River Road, North Woodstock, NH. Rev. Raymond Hahn will officiate.
Friends and relatives may call from 12:30pm to 2:00pm at the Masonic Hall prior to the service.
Burial will be in the spring at Woodstock Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to any Alzheimer’s organization.
