Rev. Winfield H Homan

Pastor Winfield H. Holman, 90, of Lancaster, PA went home to be with his lord on July 30, 2010. He was a loving husband and father and prayer warrior.

Born in Denmark, Maine, he was the son of the later Charles H. and Lura Bennett Holman and the husband of the late Verna Harriet Holman.

A graduate of Providence Bible Institute in May 1946, he served as a missionary with the American Sunday School Union from 1946-1969, being ordained in May 1964.

He organized Sunday Schools and Vacation Bible Schools, directed Camp Joy in New Hampshire and Camp Mystery in Maine. He was camp pastor and Bible teacher at Higher Ground Camp in New Hampshire and Bliss Summitt Bible Camp in New York.

He was instrumental in starting 17 churches in New Hampshire and Maine; served as a Missionary with BCM International, Inc., from 1969 to present, the Northeast Region Director and then Assistant Northeast Director.

He made short-term missionary trips to Nigeria, Bahamas, and Peru. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church and interim Pastor for two years. He also served as interim pastor for churches in New Hampshire and Maine.

He will be lovingly remembered by his family: Lura Bodwell of Florida and Rumney, NH, Pauline and Erwin Launault of Greenville, SC, Vera and John Mickelboro of Castleton, VT, Lois and John Cameron of Lancaster, PA, Donna and Bob Irwin of Guilford, NH, and Beverly and Tyler Wilkins of Plymouth, NH. 17 Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren

Besides his wife of 40 years Verna Holman, he is pre-deceased by a grandson Jonathan Cameron, a sister and two brothers.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11am Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Rumney Baptist Church, 375 Main Street, Rumney, NH.

Burial was at family plot at Green Grove Cemetery in Ashland, NH.
