James J. Diaz, 82, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn, Maine.
Born in Bronx, NY, he was the son of Antonio and Henrietta (Carmody) Diaz.
James grew up in the Highbridge section of the Bronx and was a 1955 graduate of DeWitt Clinton High School. Following high school, he served in the US Navy from 1956-1961.
On February 23, 1963, he married Eileen T. Joyce. They settled in Port Jefferson, NY where they raised their family. They were seasonal campers in Wells, Maine for many years.
Jim was employed as a bus driver with New York City Transit Authority in Brooklyn, retiring in 1989.
In retirement, he and Eileen moved form Port Jefferson, NY to North Woodstock, NH where a new chapter in life began. They were communicants of St. Joseph Church and enjoyed Irish dancing. He worked at the Loon Mountain in the Food and Beverage department and at Clark’s Trading Post at the Grill. Jim enjoyed working outside, decorating the home with seasonal flowers and Holiday decorations.
He is pre-deceased by his wife Eileen who died August 3, 2016.
He is survived by sons: James Diaz of Bridgton, ME and Anthony (Jackie) Diaz of TN; daughters: Joyce (Mark) Olszewski of Marietta, GA and Kerrianne (Brian) Anderson of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren: Liam Diaz, Declam Anderson and Fiona Anderson; brothers: Raymond (Patricia) Diaz of NM and Anthony Diaz; a sister: Rosemary (Herman) Smith of Wilmington, NC; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Saturday, August 7 at St. Joseph Church in Lincoln, NH. Rev John Mahoney will officiate. A viewing will be held from 9:30am to 10:30am at the church prior to the mass.
