Edith E. (Hiltz) Boyd, the oldest living resident and the present recipient of the Boston Cane Award, passed away Tuesday evening, (September 27, 2016) at LaFayette Center in Franconia, NH.  She was 98.


Born on June 2, 1918 in Lincoln, NH, she was the daughter of Guy M. and Mabel L. (Wood) Hiltz.


A lifelong resident of the Lincoln-Woodstock area, she was a 1936 graduate of Lincoln High School.


On July 15, 1939, she married Maurice D. Boyd. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage until his passing on Feb 24, 1993.


She was a longtime member of the No. Woodstock Baptist Church and was president of the Ladies Aid.  She also served as chairperson of the Girl Scouts.


Her interests included arts and crafts and adding to her collections of dishes and cookbooks.   She was lifelong letter writer to friends and family.


Besides her parents and husband, she is pre-deceased by brothers Benjamin, Robert, Willard, and Herbert.


She leaves two daughters Sherry Shinn and husband Dennis of Topsfield, MA and Shannon Lohmann and husband Arnold of Southborough, MA; grandchildren Gregory Shinn of Dallas, TX, Kelly Letvinchuck of Newbury, MA; Kathryn Doran of Darien, CT, Lori Block of Sudbury, MA, and Kevin Lohmann of Middleburg, VA; great-grandchildren Carolyn, Kathryn, Alison, Kristin, Megan, Sean, Margeaux, William, Morgan, Malka, and Addison; many nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be private. Burial will be at No. Woodstock Cemetery.
