Daniel C. Barry

Daniel C. “Dan” Barry of Sargent Street passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was 81.

Born on February 25, 1936 in Arlington, Mass, he was the son of William B. and Mary D. (Kelly) Barry. Dan grew up in Arlington and was a 1955 graduate of Arlington High School.

After high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force.  Retiring in 1975, he served in the Air Force for 21 years as an Intelligence Specialist in South East Asia.

He retired to North Woodstock, NH, where he owned and operated Maple Haven Campground.  It was there where he met his second wife June T. Anderson in 1976.  Together, they operated the campground for more than 30 years, retiring in 2003.

Dan and June were very active in the community. Together, they founded the Lincoln-Woodstock Community Child Care Center.   He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church where he served as an usher and member of the Parish Council, Budget Committee, and Building Committee.

He also served on the Lin-Wood School Board in the 1980’s, was a former member of the Woodstock Planning Board, and he also owned and operated the Barry School Bus Company.

Dan wintered in Florida for several years and was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Mt. Dora, FL.

Besides his parents, he is pre-deceased by his first wife Joan M. Barry (1975), his second wife June T. (Anderson) Barry (2009), and two brothers Donald Barry and John Barry.

He leaves four sons:  Joseph Barry of North Woodstock, NH, Jerry Barry and wife Sandy of Windham, ME, Brian Barry and wife Holly of Billerica, MA, and Robert Barry of Lincoln, NH; four daughters: Wendy Beaudin of Concord, NH, Christine Watson of North Woodstock, NH, Cynthia Savoy of Woodstock, NH, and Theresa Barry of North Conway, NH; 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; a brother William Barry and wife Judy of So. Weymouth, MA; two sisters Carol Kenneally and husband William and Mary Barry all of Lexington, MA; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, December 29 at St. Joseph’s Church in Lincoln, NH. Rev. David Kneeland will officiate. Calling hours will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec 28 at Fournier-Hale Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, North Woodstock, NH. Burial will be in the spring at Woodstock Cemetery.
