Thomas Sheehan

April 29, 1940 ~ February 3, 2021 (age 80)

Obituary

Thomas “Tom” Albert Sheehan, 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 3, 2021 at the Grafton County Nursing Home with dear friends by his side.

Tom was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts April 29, 1940, and was the adopted son of Albert and Rolande Sheehan.  He would often reminisce of spending summers in Derby Line, Vermont, with his Aunt and Uncle, Jeannette and Lewis Frank.  Tom graduated New Bedford High School in 1959 and went on to earn an Associates Degree in Business Management from Fisher Junior College in 1983.

Tom worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Public Welfare Department for over 20 years, and after retiring moved to North Woodstock, New Hampshire in 1994.  In 2000, Tom left New Hampshire and settled in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, before returning to New Hampshire in 2005 and living at the Lincoln Green.  Tom lived the last four years at Grafton County Nursing Home where he thrived under the support of many wonderful caregivers and volunteers.

Tom was a great traveler, and over the years enjoyed trips to Ireland, Scotland, England, France, Germany, Bermuda, the Bahamas, and Colorado.  His favorite pastimes included model trains, collecting model antique cars, spending time with many family and friends, and of course being an avid fan of Red Sox baseball.

Tom was a faithful communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Lincoln, New Hampshire.  He so much enjoyed helping others when he could, volunteering and delivering meals for the Senior Meals on Wheels program.

Tom will always be remembered for his charm and wit.  He had a wonderful sense of humor and was quite a jokester given the opportunity. He loved sharing stories of the past and of all his travels.  He could easily lighten spirits and his smile would light up a room.

Tom is survived by several cousins including Paul Gauvin of Midlothian, Virginia and Carolyn Bourcier of Manchester, Connecticut.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church in Lincoln in the spring of 2021 (date to be determined) with a burial ceremony following at Riverside Cemetery in Lincoln.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Grafton County Nursing Home – Activities Department, 3855 Dartmouth College Highway, North Haverhill, NH 03774.
