Mathias F. (Marty) Tarnok, passed away unexpectedly Thursday February 25, 2021. He was 78.
Born on November 7, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of Mathias F. and Emma (Rom) Tarnok.
Marty was a longtime resident of Queens, NY. After graduating from Richmond Hill High School, he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. He was a branch manager with Beneficial Finance also in Queens prior to retiring to Lincoln, NH.
On September 12, 1964, he married Marilyn A. (Cookie) Cullen. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage until her passing on Sept 7, 2017.
He was a faithful communicant and greeter at St. Joseph’s Church in Lincoln.
He is survived by his brother Robert Tarnok and his wife Kathy of Tampa, FL, sister-in-law Audrone Tarnok of Manhattan, NY; brother-in-law Frank Cullen and his wife Emily of Cape Charles, VA; sister-in-law Joyce Britland and her husband Roger of Ozone Park, NY; sister-in-law Patricia Otte and her husband Kenneth of Lynbrook, NY; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Cookie, his parents, Mathias and Emma, and his brothers, Edward, Richard, and Dennis.
Marty loved spending time with his dog Misty, was a devoted fan of the New England Patriots, and enjoyed watching basketball and streaming movies.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Thursday, March 11 at St. Joseph’s Church in Lincoln, NH. Rev. John J. Mahoney will officiate.
Burial will be in the spring at Riverside Cemetery in Lincoln, NH (date to be determined).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the charity of their choice.
