Joshua David Dovholuk
Born May 2, 1988, died suddenly August 31, 2020 following a long battle with kidney disease. Joshua was the only child of Christie (Nutter) and the late David Dovholuk of North Woodstock NH.
Josh was an avid skier, growing up on the slopes of his beloved Kanc Rec Area. He was a member of The WVBBTS (Waterville Valley Black and Blue Trail Smashers) Freeride Team. He placed 4th in the Men’s Big Air Freestyle Championships, qualifying him for the US Junior Olympics Freestyle Team in Idaho in 2004. In addition to skiing, Josh was an excellent skateboarder, often spending free-time during the summers at nearby skate parks with his dog Cheech and friends.
Always up for a jump in the Pemi (preferably from a height), “Dov” enjoyed being outdoors most of all. He was a fun-loving friend, loyal partner, and loving son, who could always be relied on to lend a hand and crack the funniest jokes. As a lover of music, he never passed up an opportunity to see a show, preferring festivals and smaller venues, featuring local musicians, whom he held in high esteem.
Josh is survived by his mother Christie, several Nutter and Dovholuk aunts and uncles, many cousins, countless friends, his girlfriend Michelle, her daughter Aster, and his best friend and faithful companion, his dog Cheech. Josh and Cheech were rarely apart and could regularly be found at their favorite river spots, hiking in the woods, or playing fetch with a tennis ball in the yard.
A celebration of Joshua’s life will be held in the Spring.
