Theodore Lance Burak, 71, passed away at home on April 26, 2018.
He was born on June 1, 1946, in Jamestown, CA, to Fred Theodore Burak and Dorothy May “Gale” (Gardner) Burak.
Lance moved to Lincoln, NH, with his family when he was 10. After graduating from Linwood High School he served and received an honorable discharged from the US Army. He then earned a degree in wooden boat building from Washington County Votech in Lubec, Maine.
He spent several years in Tahoe, CA, as a ski instructor and marina manager. He returned to Lincoln in 1980 to take over Ted's White Mountain Garage from his father. Lance and his long time partner, Leslie Holloway, founded the Cafe Lafayette Dinner Train, which ran on the rails serving gourmet meals for 25 years. He was also active as a ski instructor, ski coach and on hill events coordinator at Loon Mountain for many years.
Lance had a deep love of the outdoors enjoying skiing and sailing, as well as restoring classic muscle cars. He was all about fast cars, steep trails, stiff winds and flat water.
Lance leaves behind his partner, Leslie Holloway, two sisters, Pamela Bales and Susan Robinson, and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to any non-political charity of your choice.
