Marcia Ida (McCoy)Cousineau of School St., North Woodstock, NH died peacefully at Littleton Regional Hospital on November 1st, 2017.
Marcia was born on Sept 9. 1920 in Haverhill N.H., the daughter of Arthur and Mary (Huntoon) McCoy . She was raised in North Woodstock by her adoptive parents, Scott and Flora Lynde.
Marcia was a lifelong resident of Woodstock attending Woodstock Schools. She graduated from Woodstock High School in 1938. She had the distinction of never missing a day of school in the 12 years she attended. She was active in town business working for 25 plus years, first as interim tax collector after her brother Neal Lynde passed away and then for many years as Supervisor of the checklist.
In September of 1940 she married Henry Cousineau of Holyoke, Ma. enjoying 39 years of marriage until his passing in May of 1979. They enjoyed many motor home road trips to Florida and spots along the way. They loved spoiling their grandchildren. They worked together at Camp Birch Trail summer camp for many years. Henry as an all around handyman and Marcia as a cook. She also loved transporting the girls to various horseshows in the state throughout the summers.
She also worked for many years at The Beacon Resort in Lincoln in the laundry department.
Marcia was an avid Boston Red Sox baseball fan. She also enjoyed watching the Boston Celtics and UConn Womens college basketball games.
Marcia loved all kinds of music and loved to dance. When she was younger her home in North Woodstock was the site of many parties and “jam sessions” for family and friends who played instruments. She loved all kinds of music from Big Band Era to Viennese Waltzes.
Marcia was predeceased by her son, Bruce Cousineau, both sets of parents, four brothers, Elmer, Wayne and Irving McCoy and Neal Lynde. She is survived by a sister, Irma Clough of Bath, NH.
Marcia leaves her children, Wayne Cousineau and his wife Doris of Laconia,NH, Fay Dwyer and her husband Gerry of Thornton, NH, Eileen Carter and her husband Steve of North Woodstock with whom she lived for many years. She also has 9 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 9:00am to 10:30am Friday, November 17, 2017 at Fournier-Hale Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, No. Woodstock, NH. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11am at St. Joseph Church in Lincoln. Burial will be at Woodstock Cemetery in Woodstock, NH.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Marcia’s name to The Salvation Army or The Red Cross.
