Francis P. Benza

April 16, 1937 ~ March 5, 2019 (age 81)

Francis P. Benza of No. Woodstock, NH passed away peacefully at his home on March 5, 2019.  Born April 16, 1931 in Hartford, Connecticut, Francis was one of five children of Anna and Salvatore Benza.  He is predeceased by his parents, Sister Anita Pellay and Brothers Raymond and Joseph Benza.  He grew up in Bronx, NY graduating from Columbus High School in 1950.  He proudly served his country in Korea during the Korean War.  He is survived by his twin brother, Sebastian ‘Buz’ Benza of No. Woodstock, two children, seven grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. As the proud father of his daughters, Andrea Ball and Audra Mintz, he loved to talk about their achievements and share pictures and stories of his grandchildren, JJ (and wife Karina), Brandon, Tyler, and Meghan Ball, and triplets Carrie, Madison, and Ashley Mintz.  Known as Frank or Frannie to many, he will be remembered fondly as ‘Mr. Fix It’ – able to fix anything mechanical beginning with the first television sets, to his passion— boats and cars.  He worked hard for many years creating Benza’s West Shore Marina, in Warwick, RI, retiring early in 1987 to enjoy his ski home full time in the beautiful White Mountains, skiing, snowmobiling, golfing, and boating with friends and family.  He made many friends as a Starter and Ranger at the Jack O’Lantern and Owl’s Nest golf courses over the years.  He was a man’s man with a tough exterior and a heart of gold.  We will cherish his adventurous tales of a life well lived.  Graveside Services and a “Celebration of Life” will be held at 11:00am Saturday June 1, 2019 at Woodstock Cemetery in Woodstock, NH.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
