Esther May Miller, 91, a lifelong resident of Campton, NH, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Mountain Ridge in Franklin, NH, following a period of declining health.
Born on December 29, 1927, she was the daughter of Joseph B. and Elsie May (Moulton) Southmayd.
A lifelong resident of Campton, she was born at her mother’s home now known as Southmayd Road (behind the new post office).
She was a 1944 graduate of Plymouth High School. On December 24, 1952, she married Wayne Miller who was from Derby Line, VT who died in 2012.
In addition to being a homemaker, she did work at Spaulding making baseballs for a short period of time and enjoyed genealogy.
Esther was proud of her family heritage. Her father’s family was one of seven persons to settle in Campton over 252 years ago. Her mother’s family was the one with his brother who started the Brigham Hospital in Boston.
She is survived by a son Marshall Miller and his wife Bonnie of Campton, NH, her
two grandchildren; John T. of Florida and Rae Ann Doisvert of New Mexico. She will also be missed by a step-granddaughter, Tia Currier of Littleton, NH, a step-great grandson and, two great granddaughters.
She is predeceased by her daughter Janet Youngman who passed away July 27, 2014 in FL.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 16 at the family plot at Blair Cemetery on Blair Road in Campton, NH. Rev Ernie Madden will officiate. There are no calling hours.
