Obituary

Erica M. Catoggio, 79, of Lincoln Station, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019, at Concord Hospital. She was born in Queens, NY on February 4, 1940 to Maximillian and Anna (Krapf) Hammer. Erica attended Astoria public schools and upon graduation began working at IBM as a secretary. She married the love of her life, Luca Catoggio, in Astoria on April 22, 1961. They purchased their first home in Albertson, NY where they raised their five children. Erica worked part-time in the family business at Kantor Pharmacy alongside her husband, and as a teacher's aide at the Henry Viscardi School. After 38 years in Albertson, the couple retired to Lincoln in 2000.

Erica continued to work and stay active in retirement. She was a communicant at St. Joseph Catholic Church and worked at Loon Mountain, helping out the younger children in the ski-school. During the summer months, she worked at the White Mountains Visitor Center helping tourists from around the world. She enjoyed spending time on the beach, vacationing every April in St. Augustine, as well as playing golf and mahjong “with the ladies”. However, what she loved the most was spending time with her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren.

Erica is predeceased by her parents, a brother, Max Hammer, and her husband Luca Catoggio. She is survived by her five children, Stephen Catoggio and his wife Mary of Massapequa, NY, Paul Catoggio and his wife Noel of Northport, NY, Karen Harvey and her husband Robert of Port Jefferson, NY, Edward Catoggio and his wife Ann of Port Jefferson, NY, and Annemarie O’Neill and her husband Shane of Pembroke, MA. She was known as Oma to her eleven grandchildren, Katy, Cameron, Olivia, Stephanie, Andreya, Isabel, Ashley, Taylor, Luke, Liam, and Serena.
